Time Management

Personal and/or professional time management is the one of the most significant skills that contributes to a happy and fulfilled life. It might not be congenital, but it definitely something that you can inculcate with conscious effort. In reality, you cannot really manage time. What you can manage are the set of activities that you choose to prioritize and work on in the time available to you.

Why is managing your time effectively so important?

Time management skills are essential for:

Reducing Stress. If you have a lot on your plate, chances are you are frazzled. However, by having a plan, and setting priorities you can reduce your stress considerably.

Being organized. When you feel rushed, and feel like you have absolutely no time. As cliched as it may sound, it is important that you step back for few minutes and list out the things that need to get done. Then quickly establish your goals i.e. your scope of work. It is in those frenzied moments that we often miss the critical things.

Being confident. You can be confident, if you are ahead of the game. You can be ahead of the game by trusting your judgement of priorities and sticking to them, no matter what.

Minimizing rework. You cannot completely avoid rework sometimes. However, by concentrating on one thing at a time, can minimize mistakes and thus minimize rework.

Curtailing fire-fighting. Doing everything at the last minute seems to bring out the best in some people. However, if we are constantly working against last minute deadlines, we will not only burn out, but also make severe mistakes that may render our entire work useless.

In conclusion, time and tide indeed waits for no one. Spontaneity is great for short term. However, if you master the art of making time work for you, you will realize that you have more than enough time to devote for those things in life that you cherish the most. It empowers you to take control of your life! Ultimately, it leads to productivity, contentment, and a sense of accomplishment.

Time is money

Do not procrastinate

Be punctual

Do not stagnate
