Casted Down ...

A leg tied down, is definitely not a pretty picture to look at. Especially, when you are at the receiving end.

It happened on the eve of Christmas. It was raining cats and dogs the entire day. My husband and I were visiting our friends for a casual evening chat. Over a cup of hot tea and steaming upma, all pleasantries were exchanged. After a while, it was time to bid our friends adieu. We did so and stepped out of their house. Not a step or two away due to the slick and wet road, my toes failed to hold ground and I unceremoniously collapsed in my husband's arms. For a second or two, the whole world came rushing down upon me and I blacked out. My husband was frantically calling for help. However, our friends had already closed their doors and couldn’t hear my husband’s frantic pleas outside. Precious seconds later I gradually revived and mumbled – “I just want to go home”. My husband shoved me in the car and drove away.

After an excruciating night, we decided to go the emergency outdoor patients department ward next morning. The doctors took my X-Rays and bound my leg in an air-cast. They advised me rest and hoped I would feel better soon. The security guard wished me “Happy Holidays” as he wheeled me out of the OPD, into my husband’s car. The irony of it, made me laugh….
