Silver Dream

As different as chalk and cheese …whatever does that mean, asked an intrigued counterpart. I launched into examples of how two things that could be superficially alike, are on closer inspection totally different in their qualities. Ah you mean … as different as night and day! Umm… probably… yeah, stuttered I. The colloquial difference in the phrases was starting to take its toll on my patience. However, being the never say never kind of person, I digressed to a totally different conversation of night vs. day.

Night represents dark, deep and lonely. It has a sinister feel to it. But on the other hand, a moonlit night is bliss for lovers. Night is synonymous with crime and fear. But after a hectic and harrowing day, night seems like a peaceful balm to assuage all your aggravations.

When the moon dresses up like a newly wedded bride, about to reveal her face to her lover, the moment looks insanely beautiful. She does not discriminate between the rich and the poor. She is a selfless creature allowing the entire world to soak in her magnificence. Here’s dedicating a poem to the beauty of the moon who will continue shining her light upon us for eons to come …

Silver Dream

I woke up one night with a start
Strode to the window with a weary heart
Every living thing was fast asleep
The night was lonely, mystic and deep
I looked up at the moon and smiled
She looked down upon me beguiled
She had cast her silver spell
Guised as an innocent belle
She peered beneath her misty veil
Spilling her beams on every trail
Every petal and every blade
Shimmering with her silver shade
The silver magic reigned supreme
That night I had a silver dream
